Ladies and gentlemen,
Assalamu'alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh
(Peace and blessings be upon you),
I stand before you today on this momentous occasion to commemorate World Santri Day. It is a day when we come together to reflect, respect, and appreciate the remarkable role played by santri (Islamic students) in building our world.
As a nation predominantly comprised of Muslims, Indonesia has a rich tradition of Islamic education. Santri, with their spirit, dedication, and unwavering pursuit of knowledge, have been a crucial pillar in upholding this noble tradition. They are intellectual warriors who tirelessly pursue knowledge, shape strong character, and contribute to the advancement of both knowledge and culture.
History has recorded how santri played a pivotal role in Indonesia's struggle for independence. They were leaders who understood that freedom and independence must go hand in hand with strong religious and moral values. They were pioneers of peace and unity in a diverse society.

However, as we celebrate World Santri Day, we must also contemplate the challenges faced by religious educational institutions. Sometimes, they may not receive the support and attention they deserve. Today, we must commit to supporting and advancing religious education, making it a center of excellence that is competitive and relevant in our rapidly changing world.
Education is the bedrock of a nation's progress. Today, we unite in the spirit of togetherness and promise to support the development of outstanding and relevant religious educational institutions. This is an investment in a better future for our world.
